Established in 1967 Slattery's Bakery is now happy to be celebrated its 40^th anniversary last year. Slattery's are a traditional bakery based in Crumpsall North Manchester. We produce and bake artisan, traditional, continental, good old fashion fermented breads and confectionery. The services we offer are very different to what is mass produced at your local supermarket. A buffet service providing catering for the local area is also available. This can be for an office lunch enjoying hot pot, or a lavish gourmet feast for your wedding day.

The Bakery was established by Margaret and Bernard Slattery in 1967. They retired in 1990 so the business was taken over by their daughter Ann and her husband Steve. Ann had been working with her parents at the bakery since a very young age and then met Steve at Salford College Bakery school in 1977. Bernard was originally a baker on the Manchester liners going to and from Canada, from leaving here he worked in a few local bakery's but then decided to start up his own business. Slattery's was born as a traditional corner shop.

As with any business Slattery's had to move with the times. Margaret and Bernard's son John left the business to start a confectionery shop concentrating on chocolates and celebration cakes, the two businesses still work closely together. This shop is based just ten minutes away in Whitefield, Manchester.

The Bakery employs 4 full time bakers and confectioners, 1 part time confectioner, 2 part time shop staff and 2 part time drivers. They are all offered training as part of the national association of master bakers, who help with everything from NVQ's to first aid courses.

The main selling area for the company is the general public which is predominately the lunchtime trade serving to over 200 people between the hours of 10 and 2. On the catering side, they provide business lunches and also work with two funeral directors providing after service food.

There regular customers know they are getting the best possible product. They may not be the cheapest but you get the high quality of service and food, that is a given. It is seen as a service that you will not be able to get anywhere else.

Over the years Slattery's has won various awards, this includes British Bakers of the year, United Kingdom Bakers of the year, Bakery Business of the year and many other individual honours.
